We are pleased to announce our newest Powered by Napster partnership with SONOS as it launches its new service, SONOS Radio. Sonos Radio is an ad-supported, free streaming radio experience, exclusively available to SONOS customers in more than 10 million homes globally. In addition to more than 60,000 global radio stations, Sonos Radio features original programming from Sonos along with hundreds of hours of music handpicked by a team of DJs, artists and curators. New Sonos Stations queue up diverse musical selections spanning customers’ favorite genres, inspired by both classics and current obsessions like Rare Grooves, Indie Gold, Pindrop Electronic and Pure Unplugged. In addition, special Artist stations feature current influences and inspirations, starting with a personal station from Thom Yorke, David Byrne, Brittany Howard, and others. Napster’s content and technology platform brought the music to life with our content management system, complete metadata, multi-territory licensing and advanced royalty and BI reporting.

“Working with the Sonos team on the launch of Sonos Radio is exciting because our companies have a long-standing relationship. Napster (formerly Rhapsody) was the very first streaming music service available on Sonos in 2006. When it came time to pick a platform partner for Sonos Radio, Napster was an obvious choice,” says Gabriela Junkin, Vice President of North America for Napster. “And teaming up with Napster to deliver a world-class music service like Sonos Radio was a perfect fit.”

"Napster is honored to work again with our partners at Sonos. Sonos Radio is a brilliant service strategy to complement their world class devices and brings Sonos customers a unique out of the box music experience. At Napster, our PaaS purpose and strategy is to power these experiences on behalf of businesses and brands that seek the best in technology, content management and licensing administration.” says Bill Patrizio, President and CEO of Napster.

“Inspired by and built for Sonos owners, we created Sonos Radio as a better way to enjoy radio on Sonos, and to give customers a great music experience from the moment they set-up Sonos,” said Ryan Taylor, GM, Sonos Radio. “Complementing the extensive selection of 60,000 global radios stations, our close partnership with Napster has enabled us to feature original programming from Sonos which includes artist curated stations, genre stations, and our signature station, Sonos Sound System. This is just the beginning. We’re excited about the future of the service and our continued partnership with the team at Napster to continue to build unique and valuable experiences for our customers.”

Sonos Radio’s original programming is now available for Sonos customers in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia. Support for additional countries will follow. Sonos Radio’s formal announcement is here for more details.
