After four days of music, Beach Slang brought it home on our final night at SXSW 2016.

Beach Slang Play Every Show as if It Were Their Last

Holler at Beach Slang lead singer James Alex during their set and you might end up in their memoir. With fans shouting “killer” and “you don’t suck,” Alex let them know these fine adjectives would one day end up in a band memoir.

Joking aside, at their 10th and final performance at SXSW, it felt seemed as if they could keeping playing for days. (And in fact they will be since they are embarking on a tour.) Welcoming the crowd, lead singer James Alex let us know they we ready to “punch us in the f*cking face,” and they did, song after song. Causing whiplash with their anthemic melodies, the band will drive you in a frenzy and before you know it, there you are, in the mosh pit, crowd surfing and stage diving with everyone else.

Thank you @beachslang!!! Perfect way to end our #SXSW2016 pic.twitter.com/uz1dTNmZ60

**Joseph Deliver Moving, Earnest Set **

Folk trio Joseph are a family act. SistersNatalie, Allison, and Meegan Clonser named the band after their grandfather, the small Oregon town they grew up in, and the old testament figure. They sing deeply earnest and moving music; each song is layered with vulnerability. With their powerful voices, pushed forward ever so gently with acoustic instrumentation, it’s likely you’ll be hearing more about this trio soon enough. They’ll be hitting the road as the opening act for James Bay this spring, and we recommend you get to know them now before the rest of the world does.

Get your day started w. @thebandjoseph!!! #sxsw pic.twitter.com/nU0cT0qKqF

BJ The Chicago Kid Is the Real Deal

As the skies darkened and warnings of an approaching severe thunderstorm halted shows across Austin, a 90-minute postponement did nothing but delay what we already knew: BJ The Chicago Kid is the real deal. He owns the stage, has a great band and his live sound is full, rich and dynamic. The crowds love him and his voice shone song after song.
