After one of the most successful years in company history, we’re excited to announce that there are now more than 2.5 million paid subscribers using Rhapsody and Napster worldwide. This milestone comes on the heels of one of our fastest growth period in our thirteen year history. With a 60 percent increase in subscriptions year over year, there’s plenty to celebrate.
Overall, on-demand streaming music on mobile phones is exploding. Rhapsody and Napster members are now listening to more than five million hours of music per week globally. Here are some other trends we are seeing about how Rhapsody and Napster have grown:
Our members prefer mobile: more than 88 percent of our global base is listening using our mobile app. Today, more than 70 percent of members exclusively listen on their mobile device, which is up 19 percent from just a year ago.
**Our global partnerships rock: **our global partnership with Telefonica has successfully launched Napster across Telefonica’s businesses in Germany, Brazil and in the Latin American region. Napster and Telefonica also launched a major campaign in Chile in 2014, with more planned this year. Napster also continues to grow thanks to additional European partnerships, including SFR and Vodafone.
**People are loving our take on a totally new Internet radio: **In June, we introduced Rhapsody unRadio in partnership with T-Mobile. With unRadio, music streaming is completely ad free, lets you skip all you want, and you can choose your music or replay your favorites any time. Rhapsody unRadio subscriptions spiked 67 percent during the holiday season, a pace that continues in the first quarter.
