SEATTLE—June 11, 2013—Today Rhapsody International launched Rhapsody Concerts, a free new music app that connects fans to the live music experience. With Rhapsody Concerts, music lovers can find concerts in their area, listen to full streams of the headliners and opening acts, and buy tickets directly from their smartphones, anywhere, anytime.
Rhapsody Concerts is the second app in the company’s line of free companion apps that let music lovers discover and listen to music wherever they are and can be used by Rhapsody subscribers and those currently without an account. The first app, SongMatch, debuted in Dec. 2012 and allows music listeners to discover music with one click. SongMatch uses your phone to listen to the song that is currently playing – in the background, on the TV, in the car, café or wherever – and identifies the artist, song name and album for music fans to match, store and share.
“Our members are huge music fans and we have always understood that fans want to ‘do more than listen,’” said Paul Springer, senior vice president, product and design, Rhapsody. “We wanted to go another step forward and help fans discover great live events. Expect to see more innovation around how we create new value to Rhapsody members.”
Music lovers can use the Rhapsody Concerts app’s band tracking and concert discovery tool, which is searchable by venue, artist and even location, to locate their favorite bands or upcoming concerts in their area. From there, fans can purchase concert tickets and view information about the venue and the show, including opening acts,
Rhapsody Concerts also allows fans to listen to full streams of all of the bands that will be playing the concert, from the headliners to the opening acts. Rhapsody paid members can seamlessly playback artists they discover via Rhapsody’s on-demand library, which also includes suggested editor-curated playlists featuring the artist they’re searching for. Non-members using the free Rhapsody Concerts app can also get a taste of the full Rhapsody subscriber experience with a 14-day free trial.
Free to download and use for anyone, Rhapsody Concerts is available from the iTunes App Store today. For more information on Rhapsody Concerts or Rhapsody, please visit http://news.rhapsody.com/.
