North America’s most popular premium, on-demand music service is now available on all major smartphone platforms: Apple, Android and RIM

SEATTLE—October 18, 2010—America’s hardest-working smartphone finally gets to play—from Rhapsody®’s 10.5 million-track music catalog. Today, the premium on-demand digital music service announced the launch of its acclaimed mobile application for the BlackBerry®.

With Rhapsody for BlackBerry, Rhapsody subscribers can access the award-winning music service from anywhere with a network connection. As with Rhapsody apps for Apple and Android, subscribers can enjoy their playlists from any BlackBerry smartphone and discover new music through playlists and radio stations programmed by Rhapsody’s renowned music editors.

“We are committed to bringing the Rhapsody experience anywhere our subscribers wish to enjoy digital entertainment, be it the mobile device, MP3 player, home audio system or television,” said Brendan Benzing, chief product officer, Rhapsody. “Paramount to this is creating an optimal experience that is tailored for each specific device, exemplified by the BlackBerry app.”

The Rhapsody for BlackBerry app is the only on-demand premium music service application to fully integrate the hardware on the ubiquitous Curve (version 5.0 and higher), allowing users to operate the media, mute and volume buttons on the popular device. In addition, the app can be controlled via Bluetooth headsets.

Listening to and discovering music is simplified on the BlackBerry with charts of top tracks, albums and artists; lists featuring new releases and editor recommendations; and the top stations on Rhapsody Radio.

The streaming radio service contains more than 200 genre-based stations programmed by Rhapsody’s in-house music experts, who guide listeners through a variety of music collections culled from Rhapsody’s expansive music catalog. Subscribers can easily access all this content from the home screen, which also features Search, My Playlists and New This Week.

In related news, the company announced it has simplified the music download experience for iPhone® users as well, with an updated version of its iPhone app, available today on iTunes. This enhanced version of the app gives iPhone users the ability to download entire albums for offline playback with just one click.
BlackBerry users can download the new application from www.rhapsody.com, and it will soon be available at BlackBerry® AppTM World and other app stores. Users are entitled to a free seven-day trial of the Rhapsody mobile app, after which they can purchase a Rhapsody subscription for only $9.99 per month.
