Napster Beta: Latest Updates

We’ve released another set of updates to the Napster beta site, and we’re excited to keep you in the loop about our efforts. A lot of the updates this time around are things that you hopefully won’t really notice, except that the site will just seem better. Fueled by turkey and cranberry over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been hard at work to make pages load faster, make messages clearer, and generally improve music playback.

That said, something you should look for is that we’ve been adding what we call “Quick Play” buttons in more places across the site. One of the great things about Napster is that you can pick and choose exactly what you want to hear, but we also know that sometimes you just want to kick back and listen. So, we’ve been adding these Quick Play buttons to the headers of different sections around the site; they do things like play all the songs in a Billboard chart, or play a mix of the featured music you’re looking at. This is just a start at some of the features we’re building to make it easier to start enjoying music on Napster. Let us know what you think!

bonus album, Kiss - Sonic Boom .....yes, that Kiss has a new album out. But wait. There is more. Unlucky for us, you can only buy it at Walmart. Yes Walmart! It's a (3 Disc Set) (2 CDs and DVD) (Walmart Exclusive) for $12. And of course there isn't even any 30 second snippets to hear. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12342102 I guess Napster & Best Buy don't have enough clout to even get Kiss.

If you want, you can copy and paste on the addy, give the bands a listen, then fill out a Music Request form. If you don't want to click on it, then you can google or bing the band and check them out on yer favorite website. It's your Napster, only you can force them to get better.

Dash's Can't Find'em At All On Napster Playlist!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are more albums from that list of 30 that you can't hear on Napster, but I heard on The Verge or SIRIXMU on XM radio while I was driving to work. Napster has some sort of partnership with XM, so you would think that maybe somebody at Napster listens to XM radio and they would wonder why you can't hear these songs on nappy. I know I did! So thanx nappy. You can copy and paste on the links to hear the songs, see videos or find out where that band is playing a concert. It also seems that iTunes carries most of these bands. You can google the band names & check out other websites for more info. Please fill out those music request forms...

Time again for Can't Find'em At All On Napster:

8( Scream!Hello - Everything is Always Still Happening http://www.purevolume.com/screamhello <=== you download for free the song 20, 21 from the album or http://www.last.fm/music/Scream+Hello/+tracks <=== they have 2 free mp3s

9) Boo Hoo - Don't Die, plus the album Boo Hoo http://www.boohoo.ca/music/ <=== 3 free mp3s from each album

10) The Road Hammers - The Road Hammers II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Road_Hammers or hear it here http://www.last.fm/music/The+Road+Hammers/II

Please fill out those music request forms. If I can find'em, why can't Napster? Napster, yer move!!!

Someone mentioned about sales tax added to the bill. If I add a 7%, yes 7% state sales tax, to the $14.95, it comes to $16. Looks like I should move down south, low sales taxes, real estate taxes, car insurance, etc. Well at least they still don't charge us sales tax on toilet paper yet. They tried it years back, but people just went nuts, so they decided not to tax it.

But, you still would think that since Napster is taking money from my credit card monthly, isn't it their responsibility to tell consumers why we are charged more or why they are taking out more money. I didn't authorize them to take out more, just $14.95. Isn't Napster legally responsible to tell me about an added charge to my bill? How does Napster know that maybe the extra $1.05 is someone's breaking point? What's to stop them from taking any amount of money that they want?

Napster?

Did I Miss The Memo???
--------------------------------------------

OK Napster-To-Go subscribers did ya check out the new rate? The NTG has gone from $14.95 a month to $16 a month. So does that mean all of the 30 second snippets are gone? Or maybe all of the artists and albums I list every month are on Napster? Or maybe finally Napster is going to give us free mp3s??? Or just maybe Napster's top executives can now get a better year end bonus for a job well done!!!

I don't remember seeing an email or anything on this blog informing me of the raise in rates. Anyone else? I wonder how many NTG subscribers will finally throw in the towel now and just go to lala, ilike, last.fm or any other of the free, full song streaming sites.

Thanx Nappy!!

Dash's Can't Find'em At All Playlist!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last week was a horrible week. I filled out 31 music request forms for artists or albums Napster didn't have. I heard all of these songs on XM Radio last week either on The Verge or SIRIXMU. I just did a check and Napster managed to get 2 of them. Which I guess is pretty quick. So thanx nappy. But there are still a lot more to go from months ago.. Anyway, here are 10 from that list of 30. You can click on the links to hear full songs, see videos or find out where that band is playing a concert. It also seems that iTunes carries most of these bands or you can google the band names & check out other websites for more info. Please fill out those music request forms..

If little old lonesome me can find these artists and songs, why can't big bad ol' nappy find'em?

Those free mp3s are compatible on all mp3 players. They work fine on my iPod. It is only those who have a "to go" subscription where one loads DRM mp3s where you have to find particular mp3 players.

Well, it's new music Tuesday. Let's hope yer songs aren't 30 second snippets or not even on Napster. If you can't find'em, just google the artist, and more than likely, you will be able to hear the full song or find the album you were looking for....
Once again it's time for more stuff you can't hear on Napster. Just click the links I have provided or just google the band name. Then fill out those music requests forms. I know I did. Yer ears will thank you.

10) Nasum - DoomBringer www.lala.com/#artist/Nasum or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasum

If you want the songs on nappy, just fill out the forms. It just takes a minute. Get involved, it's yer Napster too!

We don't care about lots of buttons and pretty colors, what we want is music!! Less 30 second snippets and more full songs.

FAMINE:
1) Last week had to be the worst week for me on Napster.. I sent 31 Music Request forms for artists or albums that Napster didn't carry. Granted a few were even hard to find on google, but the rest of them you could listen to the songs on lala, lastfm or myspace. T'marra I will post 10 of them on my 30 Second Snippet thread. The thing that bugs me the most about it is that Napster is sort of partnered up with XM radio. All of the songs and artists I couldn't find on Napster last week were from XM radio station The Verge(87) and Sirius XM U (43). So nobody at Napster listens or has a playlist of what songs are being played on those 2 channels?? I found 31 artists that Napster didn't have. Amazing. Napster it's about the music!!!!
2) I was just reading the Sunday Best Buy insert. On page 14 Napster has an ad and I quote "Napster is the Perfect Gift. Listen to over 8 million songs and get 15 song downloads for only $15. Compatible with any MP3 player."
There are 2 lies right there. The ad makes it seem like you can hear 8 million full songs, whereas we all know there are at least 1 million 30 second snippets. I'm sorry, but that's deceptive. Lie #2: compatible with any MP3 player??? We all know that is not true!!!
Why the lies Napster???

FEAST:
Ok, now that you read my whining, I will give you a feast with a bunch of free MP3s. I don't understand why Napster doesn't have a free MP3 of the week or every day like some other music subscription services, but then again Napster has never been innovative after Shawn Fanning give up his rights to Napster.
Indie music weblog Obscure Sound offers reviews, news and streaming audio of bands primarily in the US and UK. Click on the website, then click on each month to see what free mp3's you want to download. My McAfee Security Center approved the website or you can just google obscuresound.com and see if you want to partake in the freeness!!!

Hi Bill,

That's great news. :-) Something to look forward to after Christmas.

Keep up the good work!

We hope to roll out the beta to our European markets in the first half of 2010 - we will keep you all posted.

This is great, but why not make this new "beta" site also available for UK members? Just hide all the music that is not available to the UK and vice versa... I would love to test it too.
