Moby, Wait for Me + Bonus Track
With his most recent releases, Moby appears to be working backwards in time. Last Night tapped late-'80s and early-'90s rave and house music sources for inspiration, and his newest, Wait for Me, hints at the mid-'70s urban Germany of David Bowie, Brian Eno, and Kraftwerk, particularly in the ambient interludes "Stock Radio" and "JLTF 1, " and the krautrock chug of "Scream Pilots." While these pieces are brief, they stitch together the second half of an album that progressses like a slow wade into the deep end of a pool. David Lynch directed the video for "Shot in the Back of the Head," and was also, according to Moby, a primary influence on the approach to the album as a whole. The Napster version of Wait for Me includes a bonus remix of "Pale Horses," which rounds out the set with a fittingly sub-aquatic tone.
