Dr. Dre, The Chronic
Recently added to the Napster catalog (finally!) along with other seminal releases from the Death Row catalog, is Dr. Dre's 1992 masterpiece The Chronic. Dre recorded his now-legendary, multi-Platinum solo debut after leaving N.W.A. and Eazy E's Ruthless Records, and its release was a major event. It spawned the Platinum single "Nuthin' But a "G" Thang," the Gold single "F**k Wit Dre Day (and Everybody's Celebratin')," and was eventually named one of Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time." The album celebrated the West Coast gangster lifestyle and gave the masses a proper introduction to Snoop Dogg, Daz and Kurupt (Tha Dogg Pound), Nate Dogg and Warren G while redefining West Coast hip-hop forever. Essential listening for hip-hop fans.
