We’ve had a lot to celebrate at Rhapsody HQ lately. On the heels of our 10-Year anniversary celebration, we announced that we were going global through the planned acquisition of Napster in Germany and the UK.
The European team has done an excellent job building the Napster brand and business in Germany–where it is the leading subscription music service by a large margin—and the UK. It was therefore decided that the European businesses will continue to operate under the Napster brand and by the stellar team that made the company such a success.
Rhapsody President Jon Irwin visited the Napster office in Frankfurt, Germany late last month, where he met with the staff and spoke to journalists about the company’s expansion. We will be bringing the European Napster subscribers into the “powered by Rhapsody” service in late March. Meanwhile, the Stateside team is working across time zones to make sure we welcome our new members with a great experience.
